my licensing
I am licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist (License MFT-867) in Colorado.
As a marriage and family therapist, my Colorado practice is regulated by the Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA). You can find out more information about the rules governing the practice of marriage and family therapy in Colorado by visiting the DORA web site.
my training
My counseling approach is rooted in the Japanese and Tibetan meditation practices I have been exploring since 1989. I have a regular meditation practice and have been studying with a Vajrayana Buddhist teacher for almost ten years.
I have a Master of Business Administration from Carnegie Mellon University and a Master of Divinity with an emphasis in pastoral counseling and Buddhist studies from Naropa University. I completed post-graduate training in Marriage and Family Therapy and Sex Therapy at the Colorado School for Family Therapy and am board-certified as a sexologist by the American Board of Sexology.
I received my basic training in ACT from Kelly Wilson, PhD and I continue to learn about ACT by attending workshops and participating in consultation and training groups.
how I serve the community
While in Boulder, I was a member of the Psychotherapy Team at the Boulder County Aids Project. We provides pro bono counseling services for HIV+ members of the Boulder Community. I was also a group facilitator for the Wings Foundation. Wings provides support and education services for survivors of sexual abuse.
my background
In addition to my counseling practice, I am a meditation teacher and on the faculty of Naropa University. Before becoming a psychotherapist, I worked in startups, ran a venture capital firm, taught entrepreneurship, went to graduate school a couple of times and helped start several non-profit organizations.
