clarity commitment change, counseling for couples and individuals

counseling can help

If you or your partner find yourself:

If any of these situations sound familiar, you may find working with a therapist helpful. This is especially true if issues like these are keeping you from doing the things in your life that really matter to you.

counseling for clarity commitment change

Counseling is about learning to live in a way that reflects what matters to you rather than what you fear or want to avoid requires clear seeing, powerful commitment and the willingness to change. Here's why:

Clarity is simply seeing things for what they are: the world we live in along with our values, skills and limits. Developing clarity helps us to understand what matters to us, why we are suffering and what we might do about it.

Clarity gives us the power to choose to live in ways that reflect what we truly value.

Commitment means developing the willingness to set aside what isn't working for us in order to make room for new ideas and skills. Developing commitment helps us to stay on our new path when things become difficult.

Commitment helps us stay with what matters to us when things get tough.

Change is the work of letting go old habits, beliefs and ideas so that we can be in the world in ways that reflect our values. It is a process of letting go, testing new things and seeing what actually works for us.

Change gives us a way to keep living our values even if the circumstances of our lives change.

The good news is that you probably know how to do these things already. Counseling can help you learn how to draw on skills that you already have, even if we don't call on them as often as you would like, in addition to teaching you skills that you don't yet have.

the people I work with

While most of my clients are couples addressing relationship and family issues, I work with both couples and individuals. My clients come from a wide variety of backgrounds and range in age from twenty to seventy. Whatever their background and experience, they all realize that being controlled by fear of the past or future is not working for them; they want to get their lives back now.
